Havens, her three children, Jennifer (Doug), Son Mark (Yvonne), her daughter Amy (Patrick) and her nine grandchildren, Megan, Andy, David, Kaitlyn, Alex, Benjamin, Jacob, Aaron & Nathan, and her great granddaughters, Ava & Addison.
Judith, known affectionately as Judy, was a wonderful wife and mother and a successful businesswoman. Judy was very generous to her church, her family and was also devoted to advocating for women, children, the elderly, and the oppressed through her philanthropy. Judy supported numerous charities, including Habitat for Humanity, The Salvation Army, The Fistula Foundation and many more. An exceptional communicator, writer, and orator with an unparalleled work ethic, she successfully campaigned through her financial contributions against hatred, violence, and injustice and proudly supported Democratic platforms.
Judy was a natural-born leader and entrepreneur in which she furthered her compassion and influence for senior care and geriatric medicine. She was known as a champion for equitable reimbursement for those infirmed. Judy began her career working for Parke Davis as a librarian. She later worked tirelessly for The Salvation Army, first as an officer/pastor with her husband and later in many other local leadership capacities, including Detroit's Eventide Senior Care Center, where she excelled in senior care administration and third-party reimbursement. Subsequently, she became a licensed nursing home administrator, directing the care of several nursing homes and managing accounts receivable in the Metropolitan Detroit area. As an accomplished pioneer, she was asked to speak for various agencies and associations, which developed into a successful consulting career throughout Michigan. Judy then founded LTC Billing Specialists, Inc., which she owned and operated until her death.
Judy worshipped at The Salvation Army, Dearborn Heights Citadel, and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lake County, Florida. She found solace and community in these places of worship.
In her free time, Judy was an avid reader. She enjoyed spending time with her family in her homes in Livonia, MI, and Mount Dora, FL, as well as the cottage on Lake Jordan in Lake Odessa, MI. Judy especially loved playing games with all of her grandchildren.
A celebration of life will occur on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at The Salvation Army, Dearborn Heights Citadel Corps. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm, followed immediately at 7:00 for the memorial service.
