John J. Bartko Beloved brother of Mildred Bartko of Yonkers, NY and the late Lillian B. Lauder of Hartford, Conn. Beloved son of the late Mildred Tarbay Bartko. Uncle of Matthew, Leslie and Christopher of Michigan. Brother-in-law of Pam and Paul Jones. John was a graduate of Saunders Trades and Technology High School, Yonkers, NY. He was employed at Ford Motor Co., Dearborn, Michigan for 51 years, retiring in 1997 as a Primary and Instrument Panel Designer in the Engineering Department. John served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1943 - 1946 as Motor Machinist Mate Third Class (MM 3-C) aboard the Destroyer Escort USS O'Reilly. John was a longtime member of the Masonic Blue Lodge, Shrine # 545 and the American Legion Post of Michigan. He was a member and benefactor of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association (DESA) and Historical Museum, USS Slater DE 766 Albany, NY. Since 1998 he spent many hours with the Michigan Chapter in restoration and preservation of the USS Slater and Historical Museum. His interests were diversified. He was an avid Sports League Member, bowled, played football and softball. He also was an avid photographer taking pictures all over the world. One of his biggest joys was taking hundreds of pictures at the Post of children sitting on Santa's lap. Private services will be held.
