Jamie Elizabeth Kalis

Jamie Kalis , Age 41 of Livonia. Jamie Elizabeth Faitel-Kalis (10/22/1977 - 5/16/2019) passed away quietly and peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the daughter of James and Katharine Faitel, Sister to Christina and Laura, Wife to Scott and loving mother of James and Elizabeth. She was also a friend to a countless number of people over the years. She would be the first to stand up to help and the last one to leave. Jamie was selfless and put everyone’s needs before her own. Jamie was born in Livonia, grew up in Dearborn and Livonia, and graduated from Churchill High School in 1995. She married Scott in 2001 and together they had two beautiful children, Elizabeth and James. Nothing was more important than her kids. She is responsible for making them who they are today. Jamie always pushed them to be the best at whatever they did. She watched them both become black belts, play soccer, swim, skateboard and most importantly; do well in school. Between motherhood and marriage, Jamie managed to return to school and achieved her Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science from the University of Michigan in 2017. She worked for Livonia Public Schools as a Director for SACC (School Age Child Care) at Cleveland Elementary and Kennedy Elementary. Even during all she went through in regards to her health, she was dedicated to those children and treating them as if they were her own. Jamie was loved by her students and fellow staff members and will never be replaced. Jamie loved movies, music, bad reality TV, sitting in the sun and her dogs. One of her goals in life was to visit all 50 states. Her family will continue her quest, taking her along for the ride in their hearts and minds. Jamie’s journey is not over, she will continue on forever. We love you. We miss you. We will never forget you. Visitation at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia, Friday, May 24, 2019 from 2 - 9 PM with a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM.
