Edward Joseph Garbus Jr, age 57, passed away peacefully September 8. Dearest Son of the late Edward Sr. and Rita (Kobak) Garbus. Most loving brother to Cynthia, (Jay) Gooch and the late Linda (Mark) Sisson, and Leslie. Beloved Uncle to Anne (Jadon) Walton, Mark (Kate) Sisson, the late Matthew Sisson, Lindsey (Matthew) Bahner and Benjamin Gooch. Loving Great Uncle to Noah and Amelia Walton. Ed grew up in Garden City, MI attending the “homebound” program due to his physical disability. Never letting his neuromuscular disease stop his many ambitions, he was an inspiration to everyone that ever first met or knew him well. He was an avid, engaging conversationalist with all who entered his world. To know Ed was to know one of the most unique and special people anyone could ever spend time with. His inquisitive mind and sharp intellect helped him achieve a life full of academic and personal passions. After graduating from Garden City West High School, he studied philosophy at Schoolcraft college, where he became an editor for their national literary magazine the MacGuffin. An avid computer geek, Ed was a lover of everything Star Wars, a Dr. Who aficionado, a Dungeons and Dragons gamer into the wee hours of the morning with his best friends and will forever be watching Lost in Space. His passion in his final days, aside from talking politics, was discussing everything Harry Dresden with his nephew Ben and cousin Noreen. Despite the many challenges Ed faced, he always maintained an amazing sense of humor. As an example, Ed had a business card which stated Edward Garbus Philosopher for Hire Chess Lessons Revolutions Started Uprisings Quelled Dueling Personal Investigations Religious Relics Ed loved and cared deeply about his devoted Mother and lifetime caregiver. A kind sole with a a huge heart, he will be missed by all who knew him. See you on the “other” side Ed. A Visitation will be held at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd, Livonia on September 13, 2022 from 4:00 PM until his Funeral Service at 6:00 PM.
