William "Bill" Sprague

William Sprague Bill, age 83, passed away at home in Troy, MI on February 15, 2019. Beloved husband of Mary Kay and loving father of Eric. Born May 25, 1935 in Warren, OH, Bill received a BSEE from Purdue University and spent his entire career at GM, working on GM's first computer, later on the application of computers to manufacturing and ultimately in electric vehicle development in his last decade before retirement in 1998. Bill enjoyed traveling the US and the world with his family, and especially loved the National Parks which he first visited during annual trips with his parents and cousins. Classical music and Broadway musicals were also favorites of his. He approached life with an engineer's eye, always looking to solve problems in any situation and forever organizing things. Bill was a member of the Birmingham Senior Men's Club and served as its treasurer for several years. He also served along with Mary Kay as secretary of their Sunday School class at Highland Park Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 22 from 3-8 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Rd., Royal Oak, MI 48067. Bill's funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at 12 pm (with visitation at 11 am) at Highland Park Baptist Church, 28600 Lasher Rd., Southfield, MI 48034. The family suggest donations be made to Cass Community Social Services (casscommunity.org), the Purdue Musical Organization (www.purdue.edu/pmo) or the American Parkinson Disease Association (www.apdaparkinson.org).
