Stephen L. Landes

Stephen Landes was born, June 14, 1951, Flag Day, in Ripon, WI. Steve passed on in his sleep at home Monday, March 24, 2014. His last days were spent in the loving company of family and close friends. He is survived by his daughter Gwenyth, son Benjamin, and father Lee. He was predeceased by his mother, Suzanne and brother, George. He was a graduate of Stevensen High School in Livonia, the University of Michigan, (School of Natural Resources), and Eastern Michigan University, (MBA). The majority of his career was at the Ford Motor Company, from which he retired after 35 years. His interests and activities were varied: a passion for trains and photography, Presidents Club and SNR alumni activities, U of M football and hockey enthusiast, long-time member of the Ann Arbor Christian Science Church, past president of the Navy League Ann Arbor chapter, a founder and past president of MADD in Ann Arbor, President of the Ann Arbor chapter of the Sherlock Holmes Society, the Sons Of Norway, local chapter, past president of the Glacier Area Home Owner's Association, and actively involved in that neighborhood's yearly Memorial Day parade. A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Arena Sports Bar and Grill (203 E. Washington St., A2) on Friday, May 2nd, from 2-5pm.
