Samuel Bolton Jr. passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 after a short illness. Sam was born in Toronto, Canada on July 19, 1946. He was raised in and spent most of his life in Michigan, mainly in the Detroit Metropolitan Area, but also resided for a time in both Chicago and Palatine, Illinois. Sam was a graduate of Bentley High School, in Livonia, Michigan, class of 1964, and of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, class of 1974. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1968 until 1971, during which time he was stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Sam is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn, of 33 years, and children Laura (Paul) Tchorzynski, Heather Bolton (Jason Vedder) and Jeff (Pam) Wheeler. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Josh, Ian, Amelia, Aaron and Abby, for whom he was a doting and generous Papa, as well as many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Margaret Bolton, and sister, Cathy Carcamo, all of Naples, Florida. Sam had a passion for history, economics and music, and a lifelong appreciation for both wildlife and our family pets. His love of his family was ever-present. Sam’s sense of humor, joy in spirited debate and most of all, his generosity to those who loved him, will be missed. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date due to COVID-19. Please share a memory of Sam on his tribute wall.
