Ruth C. Klosterhaus of Farmington Hills, Age 90, passed away on January 17, 2025. Beloved wife of Edwin for 50 years. Sister of the late Kenneth & Russell (Martha) Pfund. Aunt of Russell (the late Chris), Benjamin (Cheryl), Mary Ann (Danny) & Patrick (Patty). Also survived by numerous great nieces, nephews and Cousins.
Ruth was a longtime member of Christ the King Lutheran Church which, after a merger of three churches, became Celebration Lutheran Church, in Westland, MI.
A 1979 graduate of University of Michigan with a degree in Library Science, Ruth helped establish a visitor and family reference library at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, MI, after having surgery there, and helped establish a library at Celebration Church for congregants and visitors.
Ruth took her lifelong love of pets to help found in 1986 an organization called Pet-a-Pet Club, Inc. which consisted of men and women who, with their pet dogs and cats, visited hospitals, nursing homes, schools, etc., bringing joy and comfort to those they visited. Pet-a-Pet Club has since grown to over 300 members with pets, visiting facilities from Port Huron to Toledo, Ohio.
Upon Ed's retirement, Ruth and Ed began a 20 year activity delivering Meals-on-Wheals in Livonia, Mi,, with Ed bringing meals and Ruth bringing friendship, companionship, and comfort to their customers.
Ruth was a lifelong bowler whose teams competed in several leagues and competitions throughout Metro Detroit. Ruth also bowled in many national competitions, finishing as high as Second Place nationally in her age class.
Ruth was also an avid downhill skier, enjoying the high slopes across the United States and Canada.
No services are planned at this time per Ruth's expressed wishes, but a memorial service may follow at Celebration Church in the Springtime.
