Ruth Jean Duff

Ruth Jean (Jenkins) Duff born in Detroit, MI, November 23, 1930 peacefully departed this world at age 85 and passed blissfully and quickly into the loving arms of the Lord she loved and served her whole life, her Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 3, 2016 in Bloomfield Hills. Ruth is survived by her cherished daughters Cynthia Klock (John) of Nicasio, CA, Diane Norris (Jim) of Lee's Summit, MO, Irene Daniels (Peter) of Bloomfield Hills, MI; her 4 loving grandchildren Nathan (Kristin), Stephen (Jill), Sarah and Ellen (Ethan); her adored great-grandchild, Brody Neil Daniels and also by her sister Lillian Vasi and brother Al Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Neil Robert Duff in 2014. A graduate of Cooley High School in Detroit, Ruth was an avid gardener, gifted bible study leader and gracious hostess to all who were blessed to dine at her table. Ruth had a great laugh, could be surprisingly feisty and excelled in showering her family in love and prayers. In her service to Christ, Ruth served on the personnel committee at Send International for almost 2 decades and with Highland Park Baptist Church, where she attended her entire life; using her gifts as a deaconess and Sunday School teacher. Along with her husband Neil, she mentored and encouraged numerous couples, many of who adopted her as their "spiritual" mom. A Memorial Service will be held for Ruth on Saturday, August 13, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Park Baptist Church, 28600 Lahser Rd, Southfield, MI 48034. The family will receive visitors before the service starting at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to either Highland Park Baptist Church - Missions Memorial Fund or Gilead House (gileadhouse.org/donate/), an organization that helps homeless mothers and their children.
