Roger Edwin Rubis, age 76, of Livonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2021. He was born on June 25, 1944 to Florian and Jane Rubis in Detroit, Michigan and was later joined by sister Maxine and brother Jimmy. As a young man, Roger became the loving husband of Cindy and the proud father of Keith, Jeff, and Kristen. Later in life, Roger found his best friend and wife in Deborah and became stepfather to Andrew. Roger was a bragging grandfather of six wonderful grandchildren. Roger will be missed as a loving and caring father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor. The memories that we will cherish and keep in our hearts are his beaming smile that could fill a room, his warm welcome, his desire to make us laugh and his kind and generous spirit. Roger had a successful and satisfying career as a talented and creative mechanical engineer for Ford Motor Company and especially enjoyed his time on the Mustang projects. Roger enjoyed skiing with his young family and then later with the Ford Thunderbirds and Deborah. He enjoyed the challenge of a good game of Bridge, Chess, Euchre and Sudoku. He also loved exploring the arts of photography, music, reading and a good political debate. But as we know, most of his passion and enthusiasm was laser focused on his favorite sport, hobby, and research project: GOLF. Roger would travel to Pebble Beach, Augusta and anywhere else needed to play or watch his favorite pastime with his friends, wife, or family. Golf was a means for Roger to connect with those he loved by helping them to straighten out their swing, teaching the rules of the game, sponsoring their invitational, or sitting together to cheer on the pros. And, all the while, sporting the best hair cut from Dorene, matching outfits with his foursome and using any golf equipment ever invented, including a putter grip he created, designed, and manufactured with his son. He spoke often about all the wonderful memories he had related to the great game of golf. Roger shared his sensitive spirit and loving enthusiasm with us and, for that, we are grateful and honored. He will be deeply missed but absolutely never forgotten. A Family and Friends Gathering will be held at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd, Livonia on Thursday, January 7 from 4:00-8:00 PM and Friday, January 8 for Family only from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM with a Private Sharing Service at 12:00, that will be webcast.
