Robert VanLue, 91, of Livonia, Michigan, died peacefully in his home on April 20, 2025.
He was born on October 3, 1933 to Roy “Boots” VanLue and Dymple Essie (Allen) VanLue in Otwell, Indiana in the home of his paternal grandparents.
He served in the United States Army for three years, the majority of time stationed in Germany. He attended Evansville College and Indiana University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business on June 4, 1962. He was a lifelong Indiana Hoosier basketball fan!
On July 14, 1956, Robert married his long-time sweetheart Wilma Josephine Clarke, who faithfully waited three years for his return from the Army. Together they raised five children born in Indiana, Missouri, Illinois, and Michigan. Moving was very productive!
Robert spent the majority of his career at Ford Motor Company as a Human Resource Manager in Body and Engineering. He was known for his talents and skills in mentorship, leadership, master negotiation, and calming presence. He retired at the age of 55, continuing in consulting roles until full retirement.
Robert (Dad/Poppy) and Wilma (Mom/Grandma) did an incredible job raising five kids…not to mention everything they did for their grandchildren. He was so very loved by each and every person who knew him. He gave his family unending support. He left a legacy of the importance of family traditions, principles, and love. He was the “ROCK” of the family.
Robert is survived by his children Linda (Brad), Jenny, Sherri (Scott), and Bob Jr. (Candy), grandchildren Sean (Monique), Kristie, Kyle, Sam, Alessia, Arianna and Delaney, and great-grandchildren Kaylee, Skylor, and Arthur.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma, his parents Roy and Dymple VanLue, his siblings Jerry and Connie, his daughter Madonna, and his grandson Jesse.
