Robert Walfred Polvi, 81, died peacefully on March 27, 2025, with his wife and son by his side.
Bob was born on May 11, 1943 to Walfred and Mary Polvi in Detroit, Michigan, the oldest of 4 boys. In 1965, he was married to Donna Holmes and they eventually moved from Detroit to Livonia to raise a family.
Bob served in the Airforce from 1962-1966. After being honorably discharged, he earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Lawrence Technological University. Bob enjoyed spending his free time with family, watching sports – especially baseball and hockey – and working on his classic car. He also liked collecting baseball cards, golfing and bowling in his younger years, and he was proud of his perfect game in bowling.
Bob had many health struggles over the past years, but he was able to enjoy life until the last 2 months, when he was hospitalized for cancer that had spread.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Donna (Holmes) Polvi, his son Eric (Valerie) Polvi, his granddaughter Eleanor, his brothers Kenneth Polvi, David (Sue) Polvi and Michael Polvi, and his nieces Mandi (Thomas) Dubak and Lisa (Garrett) Thee. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia, Monday, March 31, 2025 from 1:00 until 8:00 PM with a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM. Instate at St. Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh Rd., Livonia, Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 10:30 until his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society or Michigan Humane.
