Robert A. Bell

Robert A. Bell of Garden City, age 79 passed away on April 02, 2023. Beloved husband of Joyce (nee Stein) for over 56 years. Dearest father of Beth and Lori Bell. Loving grandfather of Mike (Joell), Mark (Andrea Blankstrom), and Drew. Cherished great grandfather (Papa) of Jaxon, Landon, and Stella. He was preceded in death by his mother Louise Wade (Roberts); father Fred Bell, and a dear aunt, Tresa Bell. He was born July 22, 1943 in Hamtramck, Michigan to the late Louise Wade. Bob grew up on the eastside of Detroit. He graduated from Nativity High School in Detroit in 1961. Following graduation Bob joined the Air Force. Once basic training was completed he was stationed at Wurtsmith AFB in Oscoda, Michigan for four years. In 1966 he received an honorable discharge. That same year he began his career at the Ford Motor Company as a Program Timer, at Body Engineering in Dearborn, Michigan. He retired in 2001 after more than 35 years of service. After retirement you would often find Bob volunteering at St. Mary’s Community Outreach Center, and ushering at the church. He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his family. He especially loved attending and cheering for his great grandchildren’s soccer, basketball, and hockey games. Bob was known for his generous heart and great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Cremation has taken place and a private family Catholic mass has been held.
