Richard "Pete" Niehaus

April 16, 1932 — August 26, 2022

Richard Henry Niehaus “Pete”, age 90, of Livonia completed his earthly journey peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2022, at his home after brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Pete was born to Clarence William and Marie Agnes (Powers) Niehaus on April 16, 1932, in Covington, Kentucky. He was a 1950 graduate of Newport Catholic High School and went on to serve our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. After serving, Pete returned home and began his career at A&P (later Farmer Jack), retiring after 44 years as Vice President, Warehousing and Distribution. Pete married the love of his life, Natalie Good, on Thanksgiving Day in 1955. Pete and Natalie created a beautiful and loving family, based on their strong faith and love, and sacrifice for family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a strong and solid leader. He was an only child, and he created a family legacy of over 40 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and spouses which continues to grow. His deep faith and commitment to his family were ever-present and reflected in his approach to life, “smile and be humble.” Pete and Natalie were deeply involved in all facets of their large, loving family. Pete was a central part in the many interests and activities of his family over the years and always looked forward to holidays and family gatherings. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, when the family was together and we celebrated their wedding anniversary. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren participate and compete in their sporting events and school endeavors. Pete is survived by Natalie, his devoted and loving wife of 66 years; children Rick (Kathy) Niehaus, Mick (Terri) Niehaus , Chuck (Meg) Niehaus, Sheri (Marc) Spiegel, Kristi (Brian) McMullen, and Peter (Holly) Niehaus; grandchildren Kate (Davin) Bentley, Elizabeth (Javier) Ruiz, John (Dana) Niehaus, Michael (Ashley) Niehaus, Paige (Terry) Johnson, Zack, Ally and Maddy Niehaus, Madeline, Meredith, Anna and Julia Niehaus, Sophie, Grant and Lily Spiegel, Ivy and Hope McMullen, Parker and Fischer Niehaus; great-grandchildren Claire, Georgia and Jay Bentley, Caiden and Jack Niehaus, Pelayo Ruiz, and Nash Niehaus. Friends may visit at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Road, Livonia on Monday, August 29, 2022, from 4 until 8 pm.
