Richard "Rick" Genik

Richard J. Genik, P.E. "Rick" Age 77, died unexpectedly at home on October 25, 2016. Beloved husband of Linda (nee Doyle) for 55 years. Loving father of Robert (Beth), Dr. Richard J. II (Kris Conrad), and Dr. Laura J. Genik (Douglas Gatrell, P.E.). Loving grandfather of Emily and Mitchell Gatrell. Retired from Ford Motor Company where he worked for 33 years in various capacities at the former Ford SciLab, World Headquarters, and Engineering Research. Rick was the programmer in the first research team to implement real-time computer control of automobile engine carburation (US3969614 "A method and apparatus for controlling a combustion engine."). Rick graduated with degrees in Electrical Engineering from Wayne State University (BS '62, MS '68), was a member the Michigan Epsilon chapter of Tau Beta Pi, Delta Alpha chapter of Eta Kappa Nu, Livonia Moose Lodge #1317, Sons of the American Legion Post #32, and Ossineke Fraternal Order of Eagles #3762. Rick served on the Livonia Water and Sewer Board for 30 years. Memorial Service at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia, Saturday at 1 p.m. Visitation will be Friday from 3 - 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Detroit Public Television.
