On Friday, September 3rd 2021, Paul Edward Coffelt, loving husband, dad, and papa went to be with the Lord at the age of 67. Paul was born on June 14th, 1954 in Belleville, MI to Richard Max and Martha Rose (Smith) Coffelt. Paul graduated from Belleville High School in 1972. He received his associates degree in electronics from Washtenaw Community College in 1974. He worked for General Motors for 31 years retiring in 2008. He married Saundra Louise (Doty) Coffelt on September 10th 1983. They had two sons, Joseph and John. Paul spent much of his retirement doing things he loved such as tracing family history (and the history of anyone he knew) and contacting and visiting newly found family members all over the country. He also enjoyed working on his yellow 1973 Volkswagen Super Beetle that he nicknamed “Big Bird.” He loved driving to car shows and any kind of classic car meetup that he could. He enjoyed taking the “Coffelt way home” when out and about in his bug, which meant taking the long way home and savoring the drive. Most of all Paul loved spending time with his family and friends including his church family at Highland Park Baptist Church. Paul was passionate about his relationship with Jesus Christ and shared his faith with others. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Richard and his mother, Martha. He is survived by his wife Saundra, his son, Joseph (Mandy), grandchildren, Rex and Jane, son John, and brother Stephen (Judy). A Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9th, 2021 at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia from 1:00pm to 9:00pm. Paul's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 10th, 2021 at Highland Park Baptist Church, 28600 Lahser Rd., Southfield with a Visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
