Paul J. Brancheau

Paul J. Brancheau July 15, 2007. He passed very peacefully at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Jean. Dear father of Polly (Ed) Basile, Jim (Janey), Bill, Deni, Robert (Janice) and Jon (Anne). Dearest brother of Marie Leavey. Dear Grandfather of Nikki, Jason, Jon, Naomi, Josh, Jake, Andrea, Madison, Jack, Ben, Sam and Sarah. Paul served as an aviation cadet in the United States Navy before marrying Jean in 1948. Paul completed his degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Detroit. In 1949, Paul joined Cadillac Motor Car, division of General Motors, where he served as final assembly inspector, and general supervisor of cost estimation, master mechanic, plant engineer and finally superintendent of manufacturing for Cadillac's Clark Street assembly operation. Paul retired from Cadillac in 1984. Paul was an artist, painting wildlife and nature scenes throughout his life. In his early years Paul was an avid hunter of wild fowl which later inspired his wood carvings. Upon his retirement, he became an accomplished wood carver, later working in stone. Paul loved nature which was reflected in the many beautiful pieces of artwork he left behind. Paul enjoyed tennis, golf and boating and throughout his life, Paul was an active volunteer for the Catholic Church. He was known by all as a 'family man', providing love, support and life lessons to his family and friends. Memorial gathering Thursday evening 6pm followed by a Rosary at 8pm at Harris Funeral Home 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia. Gathering 10:30am Friday followed by Mass at 11am at St. Gerald Catholic Church 21300 Farmington Rd. (north of Eight Mile Rd.).
