Nancy Louise (Nellis) Hermanson
June 17, 1939 – November 9, 2024

Nancy Louise (Nellis) Hermanson, age 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on November 9, 2024. Born on June 17, 1939, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Mildred (Rebmann) Nellis. Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Carl Hermanson.

Nancy was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her children, Michele (the late Damian) Doerfer, and Michael (Kim) Hermanson; her grandchildren, Ellen Doerfer, Emily Hermanson, and Ryan Hermanson; her great grandchildren, Aurora Doerfer, and Noah Doerfer; her sister, Carol (Jim) Overhoff; numerous cherished nieces and nephews; and countless friends who felt her warmth and generosity. Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Nellis.

Nancy left us after a life, beautifully lived. Full of love, joy, and resilience, she touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Nancy was born in Eden, New York, and shared countless memories of playing with her cousins in the Eden Valley, skipping rocks on 18 Mile Creek, and playing baseball in the cow pastures. After leaving home for New York City, her adventures eventually brought her to Michigan where she met the love of her life on a blind date. Nancy and Carl started a family and built a large community of friends. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida, traveling, and volunteering at church and the local hospital.  Her generosity never ceased.  Her relationships with family and friends meant the world to her. She lived every day to the fullest and never missed an opportunity to spend time with the people she loved.

To celebrate her incredible life and the love she spread, a visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16, from 10am to 12pm at RG & GR Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Road in Livonia. A memorial service in her honor will be held at noon. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman.
