Nancy Lee Goddard

February 9, 1947 — February 12, 2024

Nancy Lee Goddard, A loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away on February 12, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on February 9, 1947, in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late Walter and Josephine Chambers. Nancy had one sister, Pat Hoban of Youngstown, Ohio. Nancy is survived by her son Randy, her daughter-in-law Kelly, her granddaughter Harper, her sister Pat, many friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ. Nancy graduated in 1965 from East Liverpool High School. During her time there she met her future husband, the late Daniel R. Goddard Jr. They began their journey together on August 16, 1965, when they were married at The Second Church of Christ in East Liverpool. They were together for over 50 years, until Dan’s death in 2020, they raised their son, Walter "Randy" (Kelly Lynn Hope) Goddard. During that time, they saw their son get married to Kelly Lynn Hope, and welcome their most loved possession, their granddaughter Harper. For their 50th Anniversary, they celebrated with family in their favorite vacation spot, Myrtle Beach, SC. Nancy loved playing the piano and organ. She was the pianist for the Christian church in the mid to late 1960's. She continued playing at home for fun into her 70's. When she wasn’t playing the piano, or raising Randy, she was hard at work with cross stitch or collecting. Nancy loved collecting Department 56, Gone with the wind, and dolls. During her time with Dan, they lived in 16 different locations across the country due to Dan being a preacher for the Church of Christ. Nancy filled her time by becoming the church secretary for most of the churches Dan preached at. Her love for the church led her to be the organizer for many church activities and events. Among her other talents, Nancy loved to bake. Cookies, cakes, and candies were her specialty. Every year for many years she would host an event in December that the entire church was invited to. It would include tables of treats that she would spend weeks preparing. She always said it was hard work, but she loved it. Nancy was also a seasoned traveler. First traveling with Dan, then friends, and then with her mom. She visited 49 of the 50 states, only missing Alaska. Her travels even led her into Canada and Mexico numerous times. She traveled by car, plane, train, boat, and even Greyhound bus to reach her destinations. Some of Nancy’s greatest moments was the time she got to spend with her granddaughter Harper. Whether it was baby sitting to later watching her in the orchestra or riding horses, it was her favorite time. Those who knew Nancy will always remember her fun-loving nature and faith filled life. As we bid farewell to Nancy, we can celebrate a life that was filled with love and laughter. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, 2:00 PM, at the Garden City Church of Christ, 1657 Middlebelt Road, Garden City.
