Maurice A. “Moe” Sturm, 76 years, of Westland, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Manor of Novi, Novi, Michigan. He was born January 15, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Anthony A. and Theresa (DePalma) Sturm. He was a 1961 graduate of Ferndale High School. Moe married Kerry Elizabeth Brulla on October 26, 1968 in Calumet, Michigan. Moe started his career in the Tool and Die industry as a Mill Operator and promoting his way up to Engineering. He finished out his career as the VP of Engineering at Ferguson Tool in Edgerton, OH. Moe loved to go hunting, golfing, fishing, and all things with Poker/Gambling. He also enjoyed listening to 50’s and 60’s music in whatever he was doing. He had a unique ability to fix difficult problems in a MacGyver type style using mostly duct tape. Moe had a quiet demeanor and an intimidating look, but had a giant kind heart for those he loved. His happiest moments were always when he was playing with his grandkids. Whether it be dying Easter eggs, building Legos, or just role playing, he enjoyed making lasting memories. Surviving are his two children, Toni (David) New, Erik (Shannon) Sturm; five grandchildren: Brandon, Griffen, Lainey, Trinity, and Anthony; his two brothers, Michael (Barbara) Sturm, Tim Sturm; sister, Jill (John) Snook. He was preceded in death by wife, Kerry E. Sturm, his father, Anthony A. Sturm, and his mother, Theresa (DePalma) Sturm. Visitation will take place at R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 31551 Ford Rd., Garden City, Sunday 2-7pm. Funeral Service will be at St. Mary, Cause Of Our Joy, 8200 N. Wayne Rd., Westland, Monday at 10:00am, in state at 9:30am.
