Maryann B. Ryan

October 27, 1932 — May 10, 2018

MaryAnn Bernadine Lampe was born in St. Louis Missouri in 1932 to parents Leona and Ben Lampe. Sister to Robert, Jeannette, Alice and Tom. Somewhat of a tom-boy growing up, a fighting spirit kept her alive when she came down with Pneumonia at the age of 5, when her mother took her to Breeze IL to their home town doctor who literally saved her life. That same fighting spirit helped her raise 6 rambunctious children with husband Fred Woodford. They were the sort of parents that always made life interesting and fun. After Fred’s passing, being a young window, she met and married Charles Ryan. They vacationed every summer in Port Sanilac, which has become a family favorite place on Lake Huron. MaryAnn loved the outdoors, having campfires and leading sing a-longs. She loved sports with football being her favorite. Michigan and Notre Dame were her favorite teams. She knew EVERYTHING about football. She also loved to read mysteries and watched shows like Murder she wrote or Matlock! She was well rounded and very intelligent. No one liked to watch Jeopardy with her because she would yell the answers. She had a great sense of humor and was very witty. She never gossiped and didn’t like people who did. She considered herself “an old broad” and was proud of it! She was honest, forthcoming, sincere and confidant. And if that didn’t charm you, she would throw in a soft shoe shuffle! MaryAnn was 85 years wise as she would say. She grew old gracefully and was so loved by her Children, Bob, Margie, Rita, Fred, Marty and Jeanne. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Shane, Tim, Nick, Lisa, Candace, Michele, Kelsey, Bernadette, Samantha, Chuckie, Fred Jr., and Erika. She has 6 great grandsons, Richard, Callum, Aidan, Noah, AJ and Charlie with one great granddaughter on the way. Please share a memory of MaryAnn by writing on her tribute wall.
