Marlene Turner

Marlene Joyce Turner, of Livonia MI passed into the arms of her loving Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 5 ^th , 2023, at  the age of  91.

She was born on November 28, 1931 to Earla and William Kuhn in Wayne, MI.  She was predeceased by her parents, her two sisters and daughter.

She graduated from Wayne High School and attended Virginia Farrell School of Beauty in Detroit where she was awarded a degree in Cosmetology.  Later, she studied under the famous Vidal Sassoon in London.

As a young woman, Marlene achieved national recognition in ladies’ pairs figure skating, roller skating pairs, with her best friend Marilyn Moore.

On June 23, 1952, married Alfred Turner Jr.  from Chicago, Ill.

Together they had five beautiful daughters.

Marlene  is survived by her daughters: Lori (Peter) Dietze,  son in law John Quinn, Mary Jo Turner, Christine (Kevin) Grinenko, and Roslyn (Scott) Jacobson and  grandchildren: Lauren (Simon), Christina, Ian, Daniel, Ashley, Alexandra, Zachary, Lincoln,  Max (Helene), Luke and Cole, and two great grandchildren, Penny May and Leo.  Marlene joins her loving mother and  father, sisters Donna and Maxine and beloved daughter Kim, in eternal life.

During her 31 years of marriage Marlene spent many years overseas in Australia and England.

When she returned to the United States she worked for Michigan National Bank until she retired.

Marlene loved teaching Bible Study, and was a member and Deacon of Ward Presbyterian Church for 46 years.

She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children. Anyone who knew them, knew that she was a star in their eyes.  Marlene was a great example of a Godly woman to her children and grandchildren.

We know God is pleased to have her back in his arms.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9 ^th from 1:00 to 8:00 pm. at  the R.G. and G.R. Harris Funeral  Home at 15451 Farmington Road in Livonia.  Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10 ^th at 2:00 pm at Ward Presbyterian Church, Northville, with visitation at 1 p.m.

Memorial gifts may be made to Ward Presbyterian Church in her name.
