Mark Gervasone

December 27, 1961 — February 7, 2025

Mark Ernest Gervasone passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025 at the age of 63 after a courageous battle with renal cell carcinoma.  The cancer eventually won, but not without his determination, perseverance and unending quest for a solution to getting rid of it.

The son of Richard and Karen Gervasone, he was born on December 27, 1961 in Highland Park, Michigan.  Mark grew up in Romeo, Michigan where he loved spending time outdoors with the Boy Scouts, hunting & fishing with his family and friends, and spending many days at his grandparents cottage on Tipsico Lake, Michigan.   Mark attended Ferris State University and although his original plan of Geology didn’t work out due to unexpected family needs, he began a career in automotive repair.  Mark opened his own repair facility, Uncle Ernie’s Auto Service, in 1996 and quickly gained a reputation for his honesty, fairness, and good work.  Mark went on to become a service manager at several auto dealerships, each one giving him experience and a expansive list of friends, associates and connections.

Later, when his illness forced him to medically retire, he still had energy to volunteer at the Michigan Flight Museum (formerly Yankee Air Museum), working on the restoration of a B52 Bomber with a wonderful team of older men, many veterans.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Karen (Belitsos), and survived by his adoring wife Marilyn, sister Shelly Konarski (Ed) & Kristine Middleton (Brian), and nephew Richard Christian Blake Gervasone (aka Christian Blake).

Mark is as man for all time: physical strength, mental acuity, many skills like carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical; problem solving & conflict resolution, math & measurements command;  a man with many interests in history, politics, and writing…always seeking, always learning.  Let us remember Mark not for the way  his life ended, but for the way it was lived.  For the impact he had on the people who met him, knew him. Let us remember his laughter, silly jokes, many goofy faces, his stories, and the generosity, patience and strength we all carry in our hearts.   He will be solely missed by many.

Please sign Mark's guestbook and leave a memory.
