Marilyn Sue Elmendorf (Ferdon), a longtime resident of Novi, Michigan, died November 20, 2016 in South Lyon, Michigan. She was 83 years old. She is survived by a beloved son and daughter, Rom Ryan and Dawn Kozarian; her brother David (Cathie); stepchildren Kandy Kozarian, Guy, Buddy, Dawn, and Dale Elmendorf; grandchildren Jennifer (Chadwick Strum) Helms, Justin Helms, Matthew (Jason Siegel) Helms , Jason Smothers, and Michael (Mary) Smothers; and 4 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her devoted and beloved husband, Bud Elmendorf, daughter Kim Kiser, and stepson, Rick Elmendorf. She was born in Detroit to Florence and Gerald Ferdon on December 27, 1932. Marilyn was an avid animal enthusiast, a passionate lover of horses, and an accomplished horsewoman who enjoyed equestrian competitions for much of her life. An ardent reader, she was also known for her creative and artistic abilities in painting and sculpture, a creativity she enjoyed sharing with her husband, Bud. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Pam and Sue for their friendship and care of Marilyn in her last years. Also, Vicky and staff at Blossom Hill who supported and cared for her in her last days. A memorial visitation will be held at the R. G. & G. R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Road, Livonia, Michigan 48154, on Tuesday, November 29, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a sharing of memories service at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made online to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (www.aspca.org).
