Marguerite "Mike" Casey

December 20, 1934 — July 5, 2019

Marguerite Helen Casey (“Mike/Mum”) December 20, 1934 – July 05, 2019 This past week, our God chose to recall one of his prized creations when HE called “Mum” to heaven mercifully without pain or suffering. Which was something she always wanted…”no-muss, no-fuss” “Mike” was wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and aunt; and as those roles combined, she became simply and universally…. “Mum”. Loved, adored, respected and unquestionably, the Casey Family Matriarch. Married to her high school sweetheart Ken Casey for nearly 67 years, they created and nurtured a family of 4: Stuart, Larry, Scott, and Jill. And from their kids’ long-standing unions, (Stuart/Suzie, Larry/Kim, Scott/Ann, Jill/Elliot) 11 grandkids emerged who have since delivered 4 great-grand babies. Mum adored them all without differentiation between blood and marriage…..they all were her family, her pride, and her joy. While well-known for her apple pies, decorating savvy, wit, candor, strength, feistiness (with the occasional snarky comment), influence, and style, she was most revered for her open love, her ever-present smile, and her gift of hospitality while bringing people together that needed to be together. Her mantra was “everyone deserves to be welcomed with a smile and a keen interest in them personally”. In essence, she witnessed through her hospitality. It never mattered when or where, she wore this code on her heart to all she met. Far more people than she ever imagined were endeared to her through this smiling grace. In the face of turmoil or uncertainty, she often fell back on a couple of her favorite sayings: “Suck it up buttercup” because “It is what it is” So, in deference again to your wishes Mum, us buttercups are sucking it up because it is what is and we will move on; but for a short while, we are going to mourn our loss, and then quickly turn to celebrating your Homecoming, your life and ensuring that the memory of Mum lives on. God bless you and keep you Mum….until we meet again….we have been blessed. All our love from “Your Family” Memorial Visitation will be held at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd, Livonia on Thursday July 11, 2019 from 3:00- 8:00 PM and at Ward Presbyterian Church, 40000 Six Mile Road, Northville , Friday, July 12, 2019 from 10:00 AM until Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Immediately following will be a Luncheon at the Ward Church. In Lieu of Flowers, family would like you to consider donating to one of these causes to Salvation Army, Red Cross or Central Detroit Christian (CDC).
