Lorraine "Lorry" Kotrych of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 because of failing health that began in early 2021. Lorry was born on February 12, 1948, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Valentina (Raczka) Kotrych and Joseph Kotrych. In her younger years, Lorri lived on Oxbow Lake with her family including three brothers, Robert, Thomas, and Jerry. She lived in Detroit for many years taking care of her grandmother until her grandmother passed away in her 90s. During this time, Lorry developed very deep friendships and opened her home to people who needed a place to stay. This includes her friend Del, and Del's daughter Lynn, who both lived with Lorri in her Detroit brick ranch house. After Del passed away, she took in another friend named Kim and lived with her for many years. With her friends (Donna) by her side, Lorry took up gardening and grew her own vegetables and flowers. She often passed the time at the local casino, where she and her friends were well known. She graduated from Mackenzie High School in 1966. After graduation, she became a school bus driver and custodian in Redford, Michigan. She loved animals and provided the best home ever for Aggie the Rottweiler, and the two of them could be seen at Rouge Park enjoying nature. She was beloved by the neighborhood squirrels and birds because she enjoyed feeding them around her home. She loved being with family and enjoyed the many family gatherings throughout the years. Lorry was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a friend to all and will be remembered as a gentle soul with an infectious laugh. She had strong opinions and wasn't afraid to make them known, which always opened up meaningful discussions and endeared her to everyone around her. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandmother (Belkowski), and brother, Robert Kotrych. She is survived by her brothers, Thomas Kotrych (Linda) and Jerry Kotrych (Mary); 3 nieces, 2 nephews, and a host of family and friends. She is deeply loved and will be missed by many. A Visitation for Lorry will take place at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia, Friday, September 3, 2021 from 11:00 AM until her Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. Because she loved animals so dearly, donations may be made to the Michigan Humane Society in her name at the Michigan Humane Society.
