Judy Rae of Livonia, Age 81. June 21, 2019. Judy was born in Detroit and lived most of her life in Michigan. She started working as a bookkeeper when she was a young mother and never fully retired, still working part-time into the final weeks of her life. Judy loved to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed family gatherings and events, camping and exploring state parks, and watching her grandchildren play sports. Judy was very active with her dear friends as they would travel, have game nights, go to concerts, volunteer, and attend bible study. With her boundless energy and positive attitude, Judy volunteered for years at New Hope Center and Ward Church, running circles around those much younger than her. She was known for getting things done and telling it like it was. Judy lived with her granddaughter and friend, Jessica McCary. They would shop and cook meals together, travel and vacation with each other, and watch countless home-improvement and cooking shows. Judy and her daughters planned to take a road trip once she recovered from cancer. The recovery did not happen, but Judy was determined that the road trip did. Days before her passing, they rented a RV and drove to Louisiana to visit Jerry Harper, her cousin and longest living friend. When she saw her cousin and his wife Chris, they all embraced and Judy said, “I just had to see you all before I go to Heaven.” Judy was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Patrick Rae, her daughter Veronica Ann Mills, and her son Larry Patrick Rae. Survived by daughters Deanna (Tim) Waun and Danette (Todd) Lemire. In leu of flowers, Judy requested that donations be made to New Hope Center for Grief Support. Memorial gifts in her name can be made at www.newhopecenter.net/donate. A Memorial Gathering on Tuesday, July 9 at 10:00 AM at Ward Presbyterian Church, 40000 Six Mile Rd, Northville. A Memorial Service to be followed at 11:00 AM. Please share a memory of Judy at www.rggrharris.com
