Josephine Suarez

Josephine ‘Joey’ Muscat Suarez passed away on November 25, 2021 surrounded by her family. Joey was born on January 31, 1925 to Joseph & Mary Muscat in Detroit, Michigan. She was the second of five daughters. She worked in the Ypsilanti aviation plant as a ‘Rosie the Riveter” during WWII. On May 1, 1947 she married Raymond Suarez. Together they had two daughters, Valerie and Debbra. They were married 69 years. In retirement Joey & Ray traveled in their Avion camper with their camping club. Joey is survived by her daughters, Valerie & husband Thomas (who was her ‘chosen’ son) and Debbra & husband Howard. She is also survived by her only grandchild, Carrie who was the true joy of Joey’s life. She was also close with her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, and her four sisters; Tootsie, Francis, Isabelle & Patricia. A Visitation will be held at the RG & GR Harris Funeral Home 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 2 until 8 pm at on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 10 am until her Funeral Service at 11 am. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Community Opportunity Center, 14147 Farmington Road, Livonia 48154. Please share a memory of Josephine on her tribute wall.
