Joseph Charles Heavener, a longtime resident of Livonia, passed away on April 15, 2024, at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Heavener for 49 years and a loving brother to Paul Heavener (the late Pat), the late Mary (Agostino) Piergentili, and the late Joan (the late Bud) Bungay. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who held him dear. Joe enjoyed sports during his time at St. Cecilia High School in Detroit, particularly football, basketball, and baseball. He and his brother Paul and friend Howard spent winter days playing hockey at outdoor rinks. He was also a member of the ATOC (A Touch of Class) golf league for over 40 years, enjoying the camaraderie of his high school friends. After proudly serving in the Airborne Division of the Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War, stationed in Alm, Germany, Joe began his career at Ford Motor Company. Starting in the mailroom, he worked his way up to become a Manager of Quality Control. He took pride in always driving a new Lincoln, a symbol of his hard work. Joe's most cherished moments were spent with his wife, Pat. They loved traveling to Florida and Las Vegas and spending weekends at the St. Clair Inn during the Mackinac Sailboat races. They also made annual train trips to see the Christmas lights and shop on Chicago's Miracle Mile, and enjoyed pizza nights at Mama Mia's with their neighbors. In his later years, Joe enjoyed "T&L" days with his sister Mary Ellen and nieces Gina & Diana, consisting of pedicures followed by lunch (aka Toes & Lunch). Joseph Charles Heavener leaves behind fond memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
