John Franklin Burnison

January 8, 1940 — June 12, 2020

John Franklin Burnison, long time resident of Manchester, Age 80. Dear father of Dorothy and John. Beloved grandfather of Taylor Joy Burnison. Brother of Donald, Steve and Tom, all residents of Shiawassee County. John was a very active man. He proudly served 12 years with the Army National Guard. His duties included serving as a supply sergeant and was also called to Detroit during the riots. Eventually, John became a member of the American Legion. John was also a very talented football player at West Virginia University. He was so athletic that he not only played quarterback but other positions as well. John also enjoyed the outdoors; he loved going to Lake Superior with his family, fishing, camping and hiking. John loved his Manchester property. He meticulously maintained the grounds, growing flowers, he considered it his "Up North" oasis. He was loved and respected among the Manchester community and will be dearly missed.
