Jo Carol McGinnis, 74, passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2024, leaving a large void her family cannot fill.

Jo was born in Anderson, Indiana on October 20, 1950, to Nelda Patricia Pettigrew and Joseph Carl Thomas, growing up as the oldest of five children. She was a graduate of Anderson University. She was an avid bowler, spending most weekdays at the alley on one of her many leagues. She formed a wonderful bond with her league mates and had so many amusing stories to tell.

Jo was a devoted mother to Christopher and Amanda, her most treasured accomplishment. She was always making sure they had everything they needed and lived her life proving every day her love and support.

Jo took special joy in being a “memaw”. She loved spending her summers at the pool with her granddaughter. They would spend hours soaking up the sun and swimming.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stephen, granddaughter Carol Anne, and daughter-in-law Misty. She is survived by son Christopher (Andrea) McGinnis, daughter Amanda (Robert) Esch, and granddaughter Kaelyn.

A Memorial Gathering will take place at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia, Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.  A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM
