Jelena Abela

JELENA ABELA passed away on October 9, 2020 in Pleasant Ridge, MI at the age of 71. She was born in Germany on May 27, 1949, the daughter of Danutė Vitas-Popovič and Vladas Popovič. She resided in North Carolina, earlier in Australia, Detroit, South Carolina and Florida. Jelena was an avid artist in the mediums of oil, charcoal and pencil. Her favorite subjects were her beloved family. She loved to travel, taking many sea trips across the world with her husband. She is survived by her husband Ronald Abela, stepdaughter Rebecca with wife Rachel, stepdaughter Julia with husband Paul Jacob and son Jack, cousin Alida Vitas-Dow with husband Scott and daughter Sofia, cousin Robert Vitas with wife Gaile and sons Paulius and Andrius, Ronald’s sister Helga Abela, Ronald’s brother John with wife Michelle, daughter Danielle with fiancé Elliott Fernandes and son John with wife Melissa and son Richard. Visitation will be Saturday, October 17 at 10:30 am at Divine Providence Lithuanian Church, 25335 W. Nine Mile Road, Southfield, MI, followed by mass at 11:00am. Interment will be private.
