James Matthew Welty

James M. Welty, 60, of Southgate, MI passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Beaumont Hospital. He was born August 27, 1956 in Detroit MI. He graduated from Inter City Christian High School in 1974. He enjoyed hunting, some occasional golf and every fall football season. His retirement at age 56 after more than 35 years with AT&T allowed him to spend more time assisting with his aging parents as well as indulging his interest in creating computer programs and websites. "Jimmy" will be remembered most by his friends for his quick wit and loyalty and by his family for his uncompromising love and devotion. Jim is survived by his mother, June Welty, brother Stephen (Karen) Welty, sister Katherine Welty, nephews Aaron (Sheila) Welty and Scott Welty, sister in law Carol Welty and uncle William Welty. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Welty Jr., brother Richard Welty, sister Pamela Underwood and brother Ronnie Welty. The family wants to extend a special thanks to dear friend Joanne Kepich for her love and care for Jim and our family over the years. Visitation will be on Friday, December 16, from 2-8 p.m. at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Road, Livonia, with a Funeral Service to follow at 8 p.m. Interment will be private at Parkview Memorial Cemetery.
