Henry Jennings was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 24, 1958 to William Henry Jennings and Sara Viola Jennings, both of Henry’s parents preceded him in death. Henry was the seventh child of eight siblings, six girls and two boys. Henry was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Elyton Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. Henry graduated from Kettering High School in Detroit, Michigan in 1975. Henry was enlisted in the United States Army during the period of January 2, 1976 to December 13, 1978. He received an honorable discharge, effective November 6, 1981, as he served three more years in the reserves. Upon Henry’s return from the service, he attended Wayne State University for a few years. Henry was employed at Harper Hospital and at General Motors for several years. Henry became known for his talent and artistry in gardening and design as well as skillful home improvements. He was also a gifted artist. Henry was a very intelligent, charismatic, and handsome man. Henry enjoyed and liked to talk to friends, relatives, and acquaintances. At any social gathering, Henry would soon become the life of the party. He loved gardening, painting, and listening to music. He enjoyed sports, especially boxing just like his father who fought professionally. Henry leaves to celebrate his life, his four children: Teren Hutchinson (Shekela), LeKiesha Harris (Dontrell), Tiffany Sparks Lloyd (George), Kaira Talison. Henry was blessed with twelve wonderful grandchildren, ten girls and two boys. Amani, Darius, Zaria, Fahrod, Zalia, Zamaria, Brielle, Nina, Amaya, Naturi, Catherine, and Joelle will dearly miss their grandfather. Henry also leaves three great-grandchildren; August, Brandon, and Kevin, they will miss him as well. Henry will be missed by his lifelong partner Darlene Gray and stepchildren LaTeece, Ramon, Jamal, and Elijah. Predeceasing Henry in death were his sisters Zetta Marie, Carolyn Yvonne, Wilma Elizabeth, Lynda Kay, and brother William Alexander. Henry leaves to cherish his precious memory his surviving sisters: Alice Bonita (Carl), Marjorie Ann (Al) and a multitude of Nieces, Michelle, Tonya, Ayana, Sherhonda, Sheronica, April, Kemba, Sheree’ and Joleta (predeceased), nephews, Percy Ray, Joseph, David, Eric, Billy Joe, James, Jermaine, Sean, Kasaun, Israel, Kenyatta, Ronald, Saraun, William, Allen, LeBaron, Carlos, Carl Ray (predeceased), Ju’Quan (predeceased.) Henry had a host of special cousins, friends, and neighbors.
