Grace Adelia Jackson (nee Tucker). Age 96, passed on April 12, 2019. Grace had lived a good life, but she was tired and wanted to “go home”. Dementia crept up on her in the later years, but up until then she enjoyed life with her friends and family. Grace was a member of The First Baptist Church of Livonia. She attended services until it was just too hard on her. She resided at American House in Livonia, MI, after keeping her own home into her nineties. She made friends easily and participated in the activities at American House. Grace was born on February 12, 1923 in Huron County, MI, in the town of Bad Axe, to Charles and Mary Tucker. The youngest of 5 children, she left home to go to the big city. She worked for a time as a switchboard operator. She often talked of how her occupation was taken over by technology. During her time in the Detroit area, she met Clayton Samuel Jackson, another product of Bad Axe, who was attending Lawrence Technological University. They were married on April 5, 1944. Clayton soon hired on with Burroughs Corporation. In January, 1945, a daughter, Susan Diane was born. Elizabeth Grace, Daniel Bruce, and Lisa Dorothy followed. The Jackson family resided in Livonia, MI. Their children provided 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Grace was very proud of the photo of the five generations that was in her scrapbook. Grace was preceded in death by husband, Clayton, in 2000, and youngest daughter, Lisa, in 2014. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Dementia Society of America would be greatly appreciated. It’s a terrible way to end a beautiful life. A memorial service is to be held June 8th. Place and time pending. Please share a memory of Grace on her tribute wall.
