Gloria Anne Washington

Gloria Anne Washington, of Northville, was born in Detroit, A graduate of Mercy High School, she lived in Michigan most of her life. Gloria went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2020 at the age of 90. Beloved partner of Douglas Washington for 40 years. Former wife of William N. Maher, the father of their 8 children. Loving mother of William G. (Maria)Maher, Bonnie (Tom) Sak, Brian (Christy) Maher, Mary (Dan) Hayes, Melissa (Michael) Samuel and the late Timothy (Yeshe) Maher, Michael (LuoYing) Maher, Ffores (a.k.a. Kevin) Maher. Dearest grandmother of Charles Joshua, Nadia (Joseph) Holman, Melissa (Thomas James) Thornton, Nathan (Cassiah) Pryor, Michael Kleinke, Xia Xia Wei, Kelly Finney, Ryan Samuel and Kyle Samuel. Great grandmother of Mia, Rickie (R.J.), Elliott and Emett. Gloria is also survived by her adoring sister Rosemary (Jim) Leszczynsk, sister in law Sue Lareaux and many cherished nieces and nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her dearest brothers Frank (Mary Ann) Grady and Thomas (Julie) Grady and her devoted first husband William N. Maher. Gloria was a homemaker and was a self-taught gourmet cook, an avid reader and collector of books. She loved to find beauty in nature and create it everywhere else in her life. She loved all kinds of music and supported culture and the arts. Gloria was a devout catholic and exhibited strong faith and empathy to all. She adored her family who loved her deeply. She will be greatly missed. A Funeral Service will be held for Gloria on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 1:30 PM with visiting starting at 1 PM.
