Gloria Louise Smith

Gloria Louise Grismore Smith, 86, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, at Angela Hospice, Livonia, Michigan.

Gloria is survived by her two loving children, Susan (David) Grosan of Livonia, Michigan and Brian Haffner of Beulah, Michigan and her three grandchildren, Jacob, Claire and Sophia Grosan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Winfred Grismore and her husbands; Charles Haffner, Douglas Taipalus, Earl Bennett and Gerald Smith.

Born in 1938, Blufton, Ohio to Maurice M. Grismore and Lenola R. Nusbaum, Gloria was a graduate of Pandora-Gilboa High School, class of 1956. Gloria went on to study at Bob Jones University, then transferred to and was a graduate of Lima Memorial School of Nursing and Blufton College. Gloria was a nursing instructor at Hurley Hospital School of Nursing and retired after 30 years of service at McLaren Hospital, Flint, Michigan.

Gloria was a life-long nurse, helping friends and family through her knowledge of health, wellness and nutrition. Gloria was a classically trained pianist and violinist. She enjoyed classical music and hymns of the faith. Gloria was a member of her church choir and also a church organist. Gloria enjoyed nature, gardening, investing and monitoring the stock market. She was a loving, dedicated mother and loved hearing about and supporting her grandchildren in their life endeavors. Gloria lived her life devoted to the Lord.
