Glenn Erwin Smitley left this earth on December 12, 2022, reuniting with his son Allan he lost in 1994. He leaves behind his daughter Andrea, granddaughter Heaven and sister Terry. He also leaves behind his ex-wife Diane.
Born in Ypsilanti on July 22, 1951, Glenn’s parents were of German and Italian descent and his father was a World War II Veteran. Glenn worked for ACE Controls, where he retired from.
Glenn loved all sports, especially NASCAR. He collected thousands of mini replica cars. He was also an avid bowler. Glenn read the newspaper cover to cover every day and was a connoisseur of Mountain Dew. He was a huge Michigan fan and was adored by his family who wants everyone to know just how unique he was and how much he meant to them.
A loving father, grandfather and brother, he spent his final years near his family in Garden City. Glenn will be remembered by family and friends at the RG and GR Harris Funeral home in Garden City. The viewing will be Friday from 3-8pm, with a family hour 2-3pm, and on Saturday from 10-11am with an 11am funeral.
