Gail Ann Birch, aged 78 years, passed away at Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala FL. on Thursday, October 26, 2017 due to complications of traumatic injuries incurred from a fall on Friday, October 20, 2017. Gail was born July 31, 1939 in Detroit, MI to George Howard Van Valkenburg and Sylvia Emma Karr-Van Valkenburg. Widowed in May 2014 by her loving husband Carl Myron Birch after 53 years she is survived by: her only child Michael Robert Birch and his wife Leslie, Sisters Nancy Lee Sallow, Kaye Yvonne Van Valkenburg and Brother Robert George Van Valkenburg (wife Sally). Gail was a professional Soprano soloist, a former top sales manager of Tupperware and Michigan Bell Employee. Gail was very active with her Church especially with singing in the choir and in multiple Masonic Fraternities including: Order of Rainbow for girls, Order of the Eastern Star, Grand Royal Matron Order of the Amaranth and Past Supreme Worthy High Priestess of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. Gail was loved by so many across the nation and beyond our borders. She enjoyed every holiday and decorated extensively to show it. She enjoyed shopping and always had a lovely outfit, completely matching with all accessories, for every occasion. Gail had retired full time to the Villages FL in 2015 where she had maintained a second home since 2008. Funeral Services will be held at R.G. & G. R. Harris funeral home, 15451 Farmington Road, Livonia, MI 48152 on Saturday, November 4th at 10:30am with internment at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth Michigan. Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 2nd from 4-8pm and Friday, Nov. 3rd from 3-8pm. A celebration of life is planned to be held in the near future just outside of the Villages Florida at the Lady Lake United Methodist church with details to follow.
