Farris William Barnes October 30, 1932 – February 20, 2024 Farris was born October 30, 1932, in Lake County Tennessee to William Howard Barnes and Lily Evelyn Duncan. He was baptized and a member of Ridgely First Baptist Church. After joining the US Navy and meeting and marrying Helen McClain Barnes of Tiptonville, TN. they relocated to Plymouth, Michigan in 1958 to find work and to raise their family. Helen passed away on January 2, 2000. Farris met and married Karen Sargent in 2007. They were both members of Plymouth Church of Christ. Those left to grieve his death are his devoted wife Karen Barnes, loving daughter Nancy Martin, Son, Jim Sargent (Christine), Daughter Diane Booker (Russ), Caring sister, Wanda Leake (Tony), brother Johnny Barnes (Marilyn), Cherished grandchildren Melissa (late Levi), Eric Martin, Jason Martin (Jess), Brandon Martin, Jillian Barnes, Steven Barnes, Paul Ashley, Dylan Sargent, Alex Booker, Zyykaiah Hackbarth, and Paul Ashley and two great-grandchildren Austin Martin and Adeline Martin. He was preceded in death by his Mother Lily Duncan, Father Howard Barnes, Stepmother, Lucille Barnes, Daughter Marie Sargent, Brother Jerry Barnes, and his loving son Michael Steven Barnes. Farris loved his sports. He bowled in multiple leagues a week in Plymouth all of his life until late. He also enjoyed fishing, wrestling, baseball, football and horse racing. He had quite the collection of recorded movies, and sporting events (mostly wrestling). He was a big fan of The Detroit Tigers. He also enjoyed old shows like GunSmoke, Bonanza, The Hardy Boys, and all westerns. Farris was one of the most honest, kind, gentle, and content man you could ever meet. He was always cheerful and he had a passion for life. If you wanted to pick an argument with him, you were simply out of luck. He would not argue with you, and he was completely non-confrontational. He did not drink, he did not cuss. He did however smoke a cigar from time to time. King Edward Brand to be specific. A Graveside Service will be held at the Glen Eden Memorial Park Cemetery at 11 am on March 30, 2024, 35667 8 Mile Rd, Livonia, MI, Garden of Evangelist.
