Eric J. Pierson

Eric John Pierson, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, brother-in-law and dog-father, died peacefully surrounded by his family on the night of May 18th, 2024, at the age of 57. Eric was born in Dearborn on January 11th, 1967, to Dianne Rosalind Pierson (nee Virzi) and Thomas Michael Pierson. He was married on St. Patrick's Day, 1989 to Cynthia Lynn Pierson (nee Dunn), a relationship he loved, fostered and relied upon for the duration of his life. They had two children, Maxwell John Pierson, born 1990, and Jenna Elizabeth Umin (nee Pierson), born 1992. A dedicated professional with a characteristically strong work ethic, Eric was involved in the elevator business for over 40 years, working his way from a field technician to a regional operations manager near the end of his career, and finishing as an inspector for the state of Michigan. He was thought of fondly by his colleagues, cherished for his wit, sense of humor and composure.

He was a man that enjoyed the pleasures that life had to offer. A gourmet and chef in his own right, Eric could often be found in his kitchen, flouring his pizza stone and making sure his family was fed. He was a golfer, and looked forward to the summers on the course. He loved his family very much, and liked nothing more in these final years than spending time with his daughter, her husband Justin Umin, and their son Clark.

Eric is preceded in death by his sister, René Marie Pierson. He is survived by his wife, their children, his mother and father, his sister-in-law, his niece, his son-in-law, his grandchild and his dog, Ryder. There are no words adequate to describe the loss felt by them all.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 22nd at the RG & GR Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia, Michigan, promptly beginning at 5:00 PM. A eulogy will be read at 7:00PM.
