Embenga Louya, 82, of Detroit, Michigan, died on Sunday, January 26, 2025, after a sudden illness.
Born December 12, 1942, in MBANDAKA, Providence of Equator of the Democratic Republic of Congo, son of Longange Louya and Bekay Eugene, lived for 51 years in Detroit, coming from Rockford, Illinois, New York City, Quebec, and his birthplace.
Surviving family includes his wife Belinda, of 48 years, daughters Kiki Bokungu (Robert Simon), Mimi Bekay, Ilese Bomonya, nephew Max Louya, who resides in Virginia, oldest brother Pius, and many nieces and nephews.
Pre-deceased by daughter Balita, parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Embenga graduated in 1979 from Lawrence Institute of Technology and worked for the city of Detroit as a traffic engineer for 30 years.
In his retirement, he found great satisfaction volunteering at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Detroit Receiving Hospital and the staff at AccentCare Inpatient Hospice Center at Harper University Hospital-Detroit.
Funeral Visitation will be held at The R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Road, Livonia, Michigan, on Sunday, February 9, 2025, starting with a viewing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Funeral Service at 1 pm followed by a reception from 2 to 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children's Hospital of Michigan. 3901 Beaubien Boulevard, Detroit, Michigan.
