Ellen Jane Norgren

Ellen Jane (McCormick) Norgren, age 71, beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on June 11, 2023. Born in Detroit, Michigan December 24, 1951 the first child of Joseph & Edna (Evans) McCormick. Ellen graduated from Garden City West HS class of 1970, went on to work in telecommunications for AT&T and the University of Michigan Hospital, while raising her daughter and three step children with her beloved husband Robert A. Norgren. Known for her compassion, beaming smile, creativity, impeccable style, loving nature, Christmas trees and baked beans. She loved to dance, and spend time with her family and life long friends. She took great pride in her work professionally as well as at home in her gardens, earning accolades from the University of Michigan as well as the City of Canton. Beloved wife of Robert A Norgren. Loving mother of Shannon Slebodnik. Former spouse of Joseph Slebodnik. Dear grandmother of Emma & River Martel. Sister of Bett (Tom) Arnold. Loving step-mother of Rachael (Frank) Pies, Jill (Cameron) Downing and Jacob (Lisa) Norgren. Dear step-grandmother of Frankie & Aiden Pies, and Mae & Grace Norgren. Dear aunt of Jessica & Nathan Ayers, Tara & Jack Henstridge, Lauren Novak, Kristen Novak, Beau & Sebastian Ayers, Henry Henstridge. Reunited in heaven with her father, mother, brother Bob, aunt Betty and two of her life long best buds, whom we also lost recently, Greg Serey and Dave Hedger. May all Rest In Peace Memorial visitation Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 1pm until 8pm at the RG & GR Harris Funeral Home, 31551 Ford Rd., Garden City, MI. Memorial service starting at 6:30pm.
