Ellen Jean Keeler-Mclaughlin

Ellen Jean Keeler-McLaughlin, 70, Ann Arbor, passed away July 31, 2020. She was born September 17, 1949 in Trenton, Michigan to the late Arthur and Roseann Jean Keeler. She married James A. McLaughlin on March 3, 2003. Ellen had a fulfilling career as a psychotherapist and counselor in the Port Huron, Dearborn, Taylor, Plymouth, Livonia, Ypsilanti, and Ann Arbor areas. She graduated from JFK High School in Taylor, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan, studied and worked in England for 2 years. Ellen was a kind, caring person who looked for the potential in everyone. She loved helping people of all ages. Ellen enjoyed family gatherings, especially the 4th of July celebrations. Ellen shared a special bond with her son, Jacob, and she will be sadly missed by many. Ellen is survived by her spouse, James A. McLaughlin; her son, Jacob S. Dzurnak; a brother, George (Teri) Keeler and nephew, Gabriel Keeler; an aunt, Shirley (Sam) Kirtley; and, several cousins. She was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles and Jacob’s father, Stephen Dzurnak. Cremation has already taken place. Burial will be at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, 34205 5 Mile Road, Livonia, on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at 2:00 pm. A memorial service to celebrate Ellen’s life will be held at a later date.
