Ellen M. Arvo, 84 of Greenland, died peacefully at her daughter Linda’s home in Westland on Friday morning after her battle with Alzheimer’s. Daughter of the late Eino and Mary (Anderson) Johnson. Ellen (Elly) was born, raised and lived the majority of her life in Greenland. After high school she moved to the Detroit area with girlfriends where she met the love of her life Donald at a party for individuals from the U.P. After their marriage they returned to Greenland. They raised four children: David (Sharron) of South Lyon, Linda of Westland, Bill of Greenland, and Patty (Jeff) Miller of Lakeside, California. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Amber Lee, Kirk (Ashley), Zach and Noah Arvo. She is survived by her siblings: Mary Ann (the late Leon) Rogers, Betty (Andrew) Martin, Alice (Norman) Weisinger, Barbara (the late Ben) Kemppainen, Bill (Dorothy) Johnson. Sister-In Laws: Helen (the late Donald) Johnson, Marlene (the late Ernest) Johnson. Special Cousin Alfred and Sharon Johnson. Numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, infant son Richard, daughter-in-law Darcie, and infant sister Bernice. Ellen enjoyed endless games of Solitaire (which she stated her grandfather also played and taught her), playing Uno, Aggravation and watching Detroit Tigers games. Ellen also enjoyed a trip to the new Tiger Stadium. Funeral Services Saturday, March 10th at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mass City, at 12 P.M. Family to greet family and friends from 10 A.M. until time of service. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in the Spring. Ellen (Mom) finally made it back “home”. Memorial Contributions may be made to charity of your choice. Arrangements made by: R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, Livonia and Cane Funeral Home, Ontonagon.
