Edward "Dick" Redington

December 5, 1939 — August 25, 2019

Edward "Dick" Redington The world is a little quieter today as Edward "Dick” Redington took his raucous laughter to a joyful heavenly reunion with his beloved wife, Nancy. Dick and Nancy wed in 1963 and were wonderful parents to Kelly (Dan) O'Neil, Kevin (Helene) Redington and Kathleen (Steve) Grobbel. A graduate of University of Detroit Mercy, Dick spent his career as a Purchasing Manager at the BASF Corporation. A promotion led his family to settle in Belvidere, New Jersey where he and Nancy raised their family and were welcomed and embraced by a warm community. His family remarked that even from his couch in New Jersey, Ann Arbor could still hear his shouting during Michigan football games. Upon his retirement, Dick and Nancy returned to Livonia to spend time with their extended family. Winters spent in Lighthouse Pointe, Florida were filled with friends, family and golfing; while summers in Michigan were spent building gorgeous wood furniture, time at the lake with the grandkids and of course, golfing with his buddies. While Dick will be reuniting with his parents Mary and Eddie and his sister Lynne (Charlie) Galway, those left missing him are his children, grandchildren Joe, Devon, Brendan, Sean, Jack, Tony, Keira, Colin, Sara and Taryn, and his sweet great grand-daughter, Izabell. Also feeling the loss, his brother Jim (Sue) Redington, in-laws Kay Wynne, Patty Hegarty, Mary Jo Hegarty and George Kelly, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends. Although we will miss him terribly, we know he is enjoying his perfect day: coffee with Nancy, the love of his life, a well-played round of golf, a warm dinner with family and friends followed by a smooth glass of Scotch listening to his favorite jazz music in the twilight. Visitation at the R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home, 15451 Farmington Rd., Livonia, on Thursday, August 29 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Instate at St. Priscilla Catholic Church, 19120 Purlingbrook, Livonia, on Friday, August 30 from 9:30 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Homes for Autism.
