Donald H. Knoerl

Donald Knoerl, 95 of Livonia, Michigan a loving husband and father, passed from this life into eternal life on August 20, 2021 surrounded by his family at his home of 64 years in Livonia. Donald was born in Highland Park to Henry and Agnes Knoerl on June 4, 1926. After graduating from Wilbur Wright High School in Detroit he joined the United States Navy where he served on the Destroyer Escort the USS Canfield. Upon his honorable discharge he married Joann O’Meara on July 17, 1954 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Dearborn, Michigan. His career as a Design Engineer spanned over 40 years with 36 years for the Ford Motor Company in Livonia. As a devoted father he actively supported his children in their sports, religious and educational activities. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed sailing and fishing. He especially treasured the company of his wife as they travelled and camped throughout Michigan and the country during their retirement years. Donald is preceded in death by his brother Bernard and sister Joan. Donald is survived by his wife Joann of 67 years; his children Daniel (Britni), Kathleen (Robert Badali), Thomas (Mary), James (Dawn) and Deborah (Daniel Catenacci); brother John and sisters Norma and Beverly. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with a gathering from 11:30 - 12.
