Dennis Ira Rottell left us gently in his sleep Saturday, May 25, 2013. He began life in a tiny hospital in Detroit, April 30, 1940. He relished life and loved people, but above all loved his family. As an accomplished pianist he could play anything but his favorite music to play was boogie. Dennis loved old cars, old movies, fine woodworking, and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He had a black belt in Karate and taught the art for many years. He began his work life as a paper boy for The Detroit Free Press, then continued a family tradition of working in the entertainment industry as a stage hand. Dennis then went on to WXYZ Television in Detroit as a film/video editor, and like most everything else he loved his job. In 1992 his lifelong dream of owning a billiard room was realized when he and his wife Joann proudly opened "The Ivory Room". His retirement years were spent working on his 69 Camaro, improving his vast knowledge of films, and spending Michigan winters in Arizona. Dennis is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara Joann Brock Marston Rottell; daughter Danielle Nicole (Peter) Santo: (son Dennis Jerome (Maria) Rottell; step daughters Angela (Peter)Marston-Halifax ; Dawn (Scott) LaRiche ; Kimberly Marston (Frederick Rainer); and stepson Michael (Lisa) Marston; fifteen grandchilden and five great-grandchildren; Uncle Vincenzo DeLorenzo(Mary). Dennis, known to all who love him as "Denny", was a gregarious and vibrant soul who had a smile and a colorful joke for everyone he met. He would do anything for those he loved.
