Debra “Debbie” Cooper, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the age of 66. Debbie is survived by her children, Selena, Sonny Jr (Wendi), and Sheila; siblings, Robert (Belinda) Haskin, and Robin (Jeffrey) Bushong. Nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband Sonny, her father and mother, Robert & Eleanor Haskin, her sisters Marty, Carrol, and Sandra, and her granddaughter Nichole Crenshaw. Debbie was born on September 20, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from High School in 1970. She married Sonny, her Big Boy’s sweetheart in 1970. They moved their family to Inkster, Michigan in 1980. Over forty eight years, the couple welcomed 3 children into their home and Debbie set about creating the very best foundation for her children, in the form of an incredibly loving and happy home. Their home became a staple in their family. Their home holds so many memories of celebrations of love and life. Her children remember her as an incredible mom - without doubt or hesitation, she is the very best. Debbie was a very strong woman. Debbie battled COPD and emphysema for many years. Debbie knew what she wanted in life. Debbie married the man she loved and raised her children to be strong together. Debbie loved her family and friends, and opened her home on countless occasions to host what us now some of her family’s most cherished memories. She was passionate about life and enjoyed bowling, family gatherings, karaoke, dancing and music. Debbie most looked forward to Pinochle Club. Debbie was an office manager of a car dealership for many years. In retirement, Debbie was too active to stay at home, so she decided to be a manager at McDonald’s, something all of her grandchildren thought was pretty great. A funeral is scheduled for Monday, October 8, 2018 at 7pm; RG & GR Harris Funeral Home - Garden City, 31551 Ford Rd., Garden City, MI 48135. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Debbie’s life.
