It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of David Thomas McKinnie. Affectionately known as Dave, he peacefully transitioned from this life on April 18th, 2024. Dave leaves behind a legacy as a beloved father to Linda Smith, a grandfather to Eric (Angie) Smith and Nick (Jessica) Smith, and a proud great-grandfather to Marissa, Tristyn, Caleb, Angelique, Eric Jr., Nick Jr., and Lucas.

Born with a love for the great outdoors, Dave's soul found solace amidst the beauty of nature and the companionship of animals. Whether he was exploring the wilderness or tending to his garden, his appreciation for the natural world was evident in every aspect of his life.

A true adventurer at heart, Dave found joy in the exhilaration of motorcycle rides and the rumble of trains passing by. His passion for these pursuits brought him immense happiness throughout his life and allowed him to connect with others who shared his enthusiasm.

Professionally, Dave dedicated many years of his life to Ford, where he worked as a skilled paint mixer. His career not only provided for his family but also allowed him to channel his creativity and passion for painting into his work. Dave's talent and dedication shone brightly in everything he did, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, from 9-11 am at RG & GR Harris Funeral Homes, located at 15451 Farmington Rd, Livonia, MI 48154. A funeral service will follow at 11 am, where we will honor and celebrate the remarkable life of David Thomas McKinnie.

Though Dave may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing and may we find comfort in the cherished moments we shared with him.
